1. Potomac Shores
Potomac Shores is one of the largest communities in Dumfries and is all new construction. There are several sub neighborhoods that all makeup Potomac Shores, each built by different builders. All of these neighborhoods are located in East Dumfries.
There aren’t any waterfront properties, but the homes in Potomac Shores are nice because they are set back from the highway and traffic. There are 3 story townhomes with 3 beds and over 2500 square feet, 2 story townhomes with 4 bedrooms, and single family homes over 3,000 square feet. Potomac Shores also has many amenities depending on which home you choose.
The Villas at Potomac Shores provide access to a golf course, huge gym, nature trail, and swimming pools. So - depending on what you are looking for - potomac shores probably has the home you want. Unless you aren't interested in new construction - then the next neighborhoods we mention might be better for you.
2. Montclair
Similarly to Potomac Shores - Montclair has single family homes as well as townhomes. The unique thing about Montclair is you can find homes on the Lake. Lake Montclair is a popular lake. Many people go to the lake for swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake does not allow any boats with a gas engine - you must use a boat with an electric motor with no greater than 3.5 horsepower.
Still, this is a great lake for owning a pontoon boat and trolling around with your friends. Of course, the homes on the lake are much more expensive than the rest of the homes in the neighborhood. If you are looking for something more affordable you can check out the townhomes in this area.
3. Brittany
This is the perfect suburban neighborhood. If you are looking for a 2 car garage brick home with nice trees in the neighborhood and a homey feeling -Brittany is one of the neighborhoods we would recommend. It backs up to Prince WIlliam Park and is surrounded by the park on all sides, so you wont get any passing through traffic and it feels like a private community.
Brittany also has a neighborhood park and conveniently enough - a Lidl directly across the street for your late night grocery runs. This community is highly sought after and is a little more expensive than some other communities because the homes have larger lots and many nice features.
4. Somerset Landing
Somerset Landing is another suburban community - similar to Brittany Neighborhood, but located on the East side of the interstate. This community is also very desirable, it has nice and traffic free streets, Great for biking and going on a walk. It is right down the street from Southbridge - Dumfries main shopping center.
The main difference between Brittany and Somerset Landing is the home style - Somerset Landing is more of your cookie cutter suburban neighborhood, most of the houses have similar floor plans and are two stories with 4-5 bedrooms. There are nice brick homes and many back up to the woods. The best way to decide which neighborhood you like best is to start looking at the homes in each of these communities.
