Location

Manassas is roughly 45 minutes from both Quantico and Ft. Belvoir and an hour from Fredericksburg and D.C. While commute times may be lengthy due to heavy Northern Virginia traffic, there are several transportation options that may lessen the burden. Manassas has several commuter lots, as well as an Amtrak and VRE station that may be of benefit to you. The upside to the lengthier travel times is that you can often get more for your money when you buy a home in Manassas.

Housing

When you’re researching homes for sale in Manassas, you’ll notice everything from three-story townhomes and renovated mid-century homes to new construction properties and historic estates. If you’re in the market for a townhouse, the newer three-story townhomes in Manassas can be on the pricey side. However, if you prefer lower-maintenance living, they are definitely worth a look. In areas like Tudor Oaks and Point of Woods, you can often find more reasonably priced townhomes.

If it’s a single-family home you prefer, there are many large homes in the area - on average, you’ll find beautiful 4 to 5 bedroom, 3,000 square foot homes for around $600k. If you prefer a home with more acreage and privacy, you’ll find them in Manassas Park, Raintree, and Barrington Oaks, to name a few.

If you want to be close to everything the city has to offer, you’ll want to take a look at homes in Old Town. This historic area has been revitalized over the past few decades and is where you’ll find most of the unique shops, locally-owned restaurants, and farmers markets. Homes in Old Town vary in size and price, and most of the homes have been renovated. And despite being in the downtown area, many still have yards and trees.
