Stationed at Quantico | Living in Triangle
At V Star Real Estate, we help members of the military find the perfect home to call their own in Northern Virginia. We know the ins and outs of military transfers and work to make the transition a smooth one for our clients. If you’re stationed at Quantico, on-base housing options may be limited, or perhaps you’d like to invest in something of your own. If you’re curious about what types of homes you can find, here’s some valuable information for when you’re stationed at Quantico - living in Triangle.
Location
You may already know that Triangle is as close as you can get to the base. It’s just minutes from Quantico, so it’s an ideal location for anyone working on the base. In fact, if you’re in the city limits, you should never be further than 6 miles from one of the gates. This also means that homes sell quickly, so it’s best to hire an agent that has a lot of experience. And, while Triangle doesn’t have as many housing options as other nearby cities do, it is very possible to find a great home.
Housing
You’ll find a good variety of homes, but one thing is for certain - there are plenty of large homes in Triangle. Another thing you’ll notice when you’re checking out homes in the various neighborhoods around town is that colonial-style and brick-front homes are very common.
One of the most popular neighborhoods in Triangle is Moncure Woods. It’s only about a 10 minute drive from Quantico. Most of these homes were built in 2005, and have open floor plans, vaulted ceilings, gourmet kitchens, huge primary suites, and other luxury characteristics. Some of the largest homes in Moncure Woods have nearly 6,000 square feet of living space. While they aren’t the least expensive homes you can find in Triangle, due to their size and features, they are a great value.
We also recommend the neighborhood of Cardinal Heights which is located near the Medal of Honor Golf Course. The homes in this community are also large in size. They’re just a bit older than those of Moncure woods, as they were built in the 1990’s and early 2,000’s. They consist of four to six bedrooms and have good-sized yards.
The community of Stonewall Manor is another of our favorites and is about 10 minutes north of Quantico. It’s yet another upscale neighborhood of sizable homes. With finished basements, they can be as large as 7500 square feet. Unlike some of the other neighborhoods in Triangle, Stonewall Manor has many amenities, which includes tennis courts, a clubhouse, and a pool.
If you prefer a newer home, Windsor Hill might be the one for you. These homes were built in the past few years and are also right down the street from the Medal of Honor Golf Course. The homes that back up to the treeline are highly sought after, and like many of the communities in Triangle, these are large homes with on average 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Because these are about the newest homes you can find in Triangle, prices start in the 700’s.
It is possible to find a home in Triangle with more land, age, and character. You’ll find most of these options west of Quantico, closer to the town of Joplin. There are often also townhomes for sale in the area. One of the most popular is Potomac Highlands, where you can find a reasonably priced townhome starting in the 400’s.
Knowing as much as you can about the housing in Triangle will help you decide if it's the right place for you.
